The film starts of by showing Simran Desai (Neha Sharma), a girl with a dream to be successful in Mumbai. She left her hometown to go to Mumbai (which was quite a big problem as his father was very close with her). Simran (in the two months she was in Mumbai) had it all, a great, great friends and not to mention a good salary too. But then, as the Scam got exposed, she lost her job and her accommodation. She had to prove to herself that Mumbai has not won, she needs to be successful. She shifts into a rented apartment where she meets her neighbour, Jayantabhai (Vivek Oberoi), a small-time gangster.
Jayantabhai works for Altafbhai (Zakir Husain) and aspires to be his right hand man. Altafbhai had sent Jayanta to jail so that Altaf himself wouldn't have to. Jayanta replaced him because Altaf promised him that he would make Jayantabhai his right hand man.
Love kindles between the two, in a very unconventional way, while a gang rivalry aggravates in the background between Altafbhai and an ex-cop turned gangster Alex Pandiyan.
Jayanta, as the cool, confident, chilled out gangster, while still being a nervous wreck before meeting Simran's father was very well portrayed by Vivek. He is a very loveable character while also being a "tapori" (vagabond).
Due to obvious reasons in the film, Simran does not inform her father of what Jayanta actually does and tell him that he is a "senior marketting manager" in a computer firm. Jayanta is given a huge backstory by Simran which (kinda) convinces her father, however, Jayanta being him, had to stir up a fight at the restaurant, which led to Simran's father being disappointed in her choice.

Jayantabhai goes crazy when Altafbhai's current right hand man tries to tell him what to do. Altafbhai stops Jayanta and tells him that he's useless and that was the reason why he sent Jayanta to rot in prison. This shocks Jayantabhai, he is literally baffled. He can't believe that everything he was told was a lie.
Drunk and dumb-founded he gets to his apartment and lies next to Simran's door as to say "I miss you Simran". In the morning, Jayanta gets the news that she's not returning as a new tenant moves into Simran's ex-apartment.
Jayanta calls up Simran and expresses his feelings and tell her that he realises everything is his fault. He convinces her to comeback to Mumbai so that she could do the interview for a job that she finally found. This scene is quite thrilling as Jayanta goes in her place raises havoc onto the interviewers and we have no idea whether she would reach the job interview in time or Jayanta's efforts were for no reason.

Guess whaaaaa??? She does! She gets there in time. Simran does not know what happened or why Jayanta was there.
Jayanta goes back to Altafbhai's gang and shows him that Pandiyan is no one to be afraid of. He tells Altaf that he's going to kill Pandiyan. Altaf agrees to the plan but says that he will send Kunal (Jayanta's so called protige) to prison in Jayanta's place. Here, Vivek's acting is extremely emotional and heart felt. When Jayanta gets to his apartment, he sees Simran waiting for him, but manages to hide behind a conveniently located wall, as he stares at her and then leaves (as he can not fatham the thought of facing her).
While Jayanta and Kunal are going to kill Pandiyan, he beats Kunal up and convinces him to leave this life of becoming a gangster and do something good with his life, after which he knocks Kunal out so that he does not get into any trouble. This action really makes you feel towards Jayanta and the goodness of his character.
Jayantabhai meets Pandiyan and fights with him. This is an entertaining scene, however kind of longer than it needed to be.
At the end of this figh/chase sequence, they reach the roof of the building, where Pandiyan...

Jayanta pushes Pandiyan off the roof to his death, but not before he slices a blade through Jayanta's abdomen, causing him to bleed conitinuously. This is an extremely touching scene and causes the audience to feel sympathy for Jayanta. There's a quick "flashback" infornt of his eyes just before he tumbles to the floor of the rooftop and falls flat on his face.
To be honest the film has a few scenes that do not correspond with reality, but the film does what it's meant to do, renew the meaning of the word "love" (even if the love story seems like a background for most of the film)
Next, we move to a six months "later" situation, where Simran got the job she wanted and has become very successful at it as she is at the post of "IT Head".
She seems very happy with her life but she feels that something is missing. Since the day that she last saw Jayanta, she feels as though a part of her life has disappeared. She only sees him in her dreams, but after lots of searching, she is still unable to find him.

One day when she goes to fill her tank up (in her car obviously), she encounters Jayanta (wooo! he's alive) washing her windows. They both express their love for eachother and like a lot of Hindi films, they live "happily ever after".
To be honest, I enjoyed the movie, even though I always had an incling that it wouldn't be a big hit, but I knew it would be worth a watch, and it did not disappoint. The songs in this film are addictive and cause the audience to fully grasp the emotions of the characters.
I give this film a 5/10 "5 out of 10"
